Cake Sizes & Servings

Choosing the right cake size can be confusing, so we've put together this guide to help.

Our serving recommendations are based on two different slice sizes:

Dessert Slices – Generous portions typically served as dessert.

Coffee Slices – Smaller 1" square portions, commonly served at weddings, events and celebrations where guests are also enjoying other food.

If you'd like larger portions, simply choose a cake size that serves more guests.


Understanding Our Cakes

Layer Cakes

Layer cakes are made up of 2 or 3 layers of cake, filled with buttercream, fruit fillings, curds, ganache or other fillings between each layer.

Example:

  • 6" 2 Layer Cake
  • 8" 3 Layer Cake

Tiered Cakes

Tiered cakes consist of multiple layer cakes stacked on top of one another in the traditional wedding cake style.

Example:

  • 5" 3 Layer + 7" 3 Layer = 2 Tier Cake
  • 5" 3 Layer + 7" 3 Layer + 9" 3 Layer = 3 Tier Cake

Cutting Tall Cakes

Tall cakes can be difficult to cut into traditional wedges.

For the neatest and most accurate servings, we recommend cutting tall cakes into 1" coffee slices, which is the method used by most wedding venues and caterers.


Tiered Cake Pricing

Our smallest tiered cake begins from $400.

Tiered cakes require additional internal supports, boards, assembly time and transportation materials, making them significantly more labour intensive than single-tier cakes.

Final pricing is based on the design, decorations and finishing details requested.

Flowers, handmade decorations, edible images, toppers and other custom elements are quoted separately.
