FAQs

COLLECTION / DELIVERY INFO

We offer Auckland-wide delivery (Monday–Friday) and are open for collection 7 days a week from our Ponsonby Road store.

All cakes are securely boxed to prevent movement during transit. If you are collecting your cake, it will need to travel fast and cool — ideally in the front footwell with the air conditioning on, or snugly in the boot. Towels or clothing are great to gently wedge it in place.

Please note, the last collection time is strictly 4:30 p.m.

COURIERS

We use a specialist courier experienced in handling cakes and flowers. They take the utmost care to ensure your order arrives intact and on time.

However, delivery time slots are treated as preferences only. Delivery runs are arranged by suburb and distance from our shop, and as a result, your cake may arrive slightly before or after your chosen time slot.

While we do our best to align with your preferred timing, exact arrival times cannot be guaranteed, as factors such as traffic and unforeseen delays are outside anyone’s control.

Once your cake leaves our shop, it is out of our control, and we cannot take responsibility for delays or damage caused during transit. Any issues will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

WEDDING / TIERED CAKES

These can be collected from our store or delivered to your event by us personally. Please see the above information for all collections.

Unless we deliver your cake personally, we are not responsible for any damage once your cake has left our premises.

ALTERNATIVE FLOUR BLEND – NAG

Our NAG (No Added Gluten) blend contains: brown rice flour, buckwheat flour, white rice flour, tapioca, coconut flour, coconut cream powder, xanthan gum, and cornflour.

FRESH FLOWERS

Our flowers are grown semi-organically and are spray-free. As a result, they may occasionally contain a few harmless, tiny bugs. These are clean and healthy, and we do our best to rinse and remove them all — but one may sneak past us!

If the idea of an unexpected guest on your cake isn’t for you, we recommend avoiding the Flowers and Mini Macarons topping option.

STORAGE

For optimal freshness, store your cake away from direct sunlight in a cool environment, such as the refrigerator.

If refrigerated, allow it to return to room temperature for 1–2 hours before serving. Cakes eaten directly from the fridge may appear firm, as butter-based products naturally set when chilled. Allowing it to soften ensures the best texture and flavour.

DESIGNS

Feel free to share your inspiration by emailing us at orders@cakeandco.co.nz

While we love seeing reference images, please note that we do not directly replicate other designers’ cakes.

Each custom cake will vary slightly based on size, toppers, and colours. We aim to capture the essence of your inspiration while ensuring your cake is a unique creation crafted to the best of our ability.

FONDANT CAKES

We don’t use fondant to cover our cakes, but we specialise in hand-moulded characters and decorations that bring your theme to life.

Please note: bespoke fondant elements require a minimum of 5 days to properly dry. To secure your preferred design, we recommend booking in advance — this ensures we have enough time to craft and deliver your personalised creation perfectly.

TOPPERS

You can now order personalised 3D script toppers, made especially for you! These take a minimum of 10 days from the time payment is received and must accompany a cake ordered from us.

We offer a range of colour options, with prices from $20 to $40, depending on size and character detail.

We also stock a great selection of acrylic toppers and candles in case you miss the custom-order cutoff.

DIETARY REQUIREMENTS

All our cakes are made in a small kitchen that uses nuts, eggs, gluten, dairy, and other allergens.

For special dietary needs, please select the correct option when ordering and let us know in advance. We take extra care with all dietary requirements, but cross-contamination cannot be fully eliminated.

CAKE TASTINGS / CONSULTATIONS

We would love the opportunity to discuss your upcoming wedding or event and how you’d like your cake to look and taste!

Bookings can be made Tuesday–Saturday, between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Consultations generally take about 30 minutes. Please bring any ideas, inspiration, or images you’d like to share.

CLASSES

Our classes cater to small groups and are hands-on, interactive experiences.

Once you’ve booked and paid for your chosen date, refunds are not available if you’re unable to attend. You’re welcome to send someone in your place (aged 15 or over), or we’ll do our best to fill your spot from the waiting list. Please contact us as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

CANCELLATIONS AND CHANGES

All orders require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice for any cancellations or changes, including adjustments to flavours, sizes, or design details. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice are non-refundable, as preparation and scheduling will already be underway. Changes requested within 48 hours of collection or delivery cannot be guaranteed and may not be accommodated.

Refunds (where applicable) will be processed to the original payment method, however less 10% due to website handling fees which go directly to our provider. We appreciate your understanding, as this timeframe allows us to manage production and maintain quality across all orders.

TROUBLESHOOTING

We work diligently to ensure every cake meets your expectations. However, occasional human errors can happen. If your cake doesn’t meet expectations, please reach out to us promptly. For significant issues, we may request photos or the return of the cake.

If you have specific preferences not listed on our menu or any other questions, we encourage you to contact us before placing your order. We’re always happy to help ensure your Cake & Co experience is as delightful as possible.
